We got up to yet another bright sunny day for 4 th July , winds calm and decided we just had to stay a extra day here in this lovely place.
After breakfast we took the dingy to explore the two lighthouses One at the east end just out of the Killarney channel and the other at the west end.
Took lots of photos of the area and also of the houses and stores along the channel.
Always a different perspective from the water. All the stores had docks so you could park your boat outside including the general store, the fish and chip store and even the LCBOthe liquor store!
Spent the day relaxing , reading and booked dinner for the Killarney Mt Lodge as the Sportmans Inn restaurant was closed on a Monday evening. Later in the afternoon we made a walk to the souvenir shop on the edge of the village .It had been closed the other day. That gave us the excuse to try another Farquar icecream on the way back to the boat. This time we got wise and ordered the kiddie size .Single size was huge! Sportman's Inn has a spa over on Georges Island just opposite the Marina, and so I went over late afternoon for a pedicure. Then later it was a short walk over to the Mt Lodge for our dinner. When we arrived we were given a reserved table with an outside view .The waitress said Mark the operations manager at Sportman's Inn had insisted we have a bottle of wine of our choice. His treat! Food was good especially the lightly grilled lettuce wedge wrapped in prosciutto with a caesar dressing .As we walked back, we remarked on the homes , many with large slabs of granite sitting on their lawns. Some were even built on slabs of granite. They just work round the natural environment!
Chatted a bit to our dock neighbors then turned in for the night
Over and out.
