Full day in Frankfort

Hi F and F,
Early morning started with lightening and rain around 5 am.This rain then continued throughout the day until about 1.30 pm.So nice lazy day inside the boat reading.  We were able to get out for a brief spell to buy some goodies at the Crescent Bakery on Main St which we had for breakfast and lunch.
Sun came out around 2.30 pm and we got out the  bikes and biked around the 2 miles to Elberta at the far end of Lake Betsie.Nice wide paved biking trail.
Stopped for a drink at a shop there., Erica had a very unusual cider apple vinegar and ginger combo and Graeme root beer Both made locally in Michigan. Then we cycled to the end of the island right opposite where we are staying in the Marina.Decided to take a short steep climb up the hill to the vantage point where we could see more sand dunes and the entrance off Lake Michigan into Lake Betsie. We learnt an interesting fact there, Back in1892 Car Ferry Operations started from Lake Betsie to Keewaunce, Wisconsin .This was the world's first use of car ferries across such an expanse of water.Remember Lake Michigan is 300 miles long and 80 miles wide.
Later headed for dinner at Coho. A restaurant recommended by John our dock master. It was
advertised as having fresh, flavorful food with an eclectic zing! Indeed the food was good Erica had Emu Stroganoff and Graeme a Thai Boulibase .Sitting out on the patio boer looking the marinas was very pleasant.
Checked out The Bookstore on the way back. Both ended up buying a book there and looking through a large coffee table book with photographs of Michigan by Todd and Brad Reed .Its called Wednesdays in the Mitten. Some of the photos we recognized.Beautifully done.
Over and Out,
E and G
