Off to Harbor Springs , in Lake Michigan

Hi F and F,
Before we left Mackinac Island , Erica went for an early morning walk to explore further around the waterfront. Another day here would have been fun, especially to have a bike ride around the whole island.Perhaps next time , we should always leave something as a excuse to return. This would be a fun place to come back to.
The winds were due to get up during the day so we left  8.45 am. Within the first 15 minutes we were going under the Mackinaw Bridge. It is a 4 mile long suspension bridge that joins Mackinaw City with St Ignaces Island.
Shortly after that we noticed 3 powerboats about the size of ours coming up behind us.They passed us going a quite a speed and appeared to be heading in the same direction as us.
Once we rounded the Wauoshance Island we hot the full force of the wind and waves went from 2 to 3 ft to about 5 ft.South West winds are the worst it seems. We bounced our way onto Harbor Springs.
Budd's friends blog which we had been reading seems to have experience the same deal.
Just Beve our Marina , as we turned more north, we struck calmer sea. First a fuel up , 48 gallons of diesel .Great staff to help us and Justin who was coordinating some boat work and a boat polish and clean we are having done tomorrow , was there to greet us.
Very nice that we were able to have the slip which belongs to some friends of our friends in Longboat Key in Florida. The club has nice facilities and is very close to the town.
We took the short walk to the Main Street.Erica's turn to buy a couple of items from a nice dress shop.
Then time for a Kilwins icecream .Michigan is the land of Kilwin! Then a relax on the boat and dinner on the BBQ with a salad.
Finished the day watching a DVD .It was a spoof on a James Bond movie.
Over and out,
E and G.
