As we had a relatively long trip today we decided to head off early .The anchor came up easily although a lot of brown mud was attached to the chain Good thing I had my black shorts on!
Back through St Peters lock and into the Lennox Passage which was very calm.Reminds us of Maine minus the lobster pots.Lots of islands. Pass on he way. Very nice run and then we turned the corner to Canso Strait, with bit more wind up here. This stretch is known to really cut up in high winds.
Past Port Hawkesbury , an industrial town , the a quarry town and on to our second lock for the day. This was fun, first a swing bridge immediately followed by the lock. As were the only ones in , we didn't even need to tie up just kept stationary and sailed on through when the far gates opened. On into the St George Bay. WithCape Breton was on our right and Nova Scotia on our left.
Waves a little more choppy, but soon we were safe in Ballantyne's Cove along with all the fishing boats. Fueled up then Graeme did some fancy steering into a very tight slip. The only floating dock available for us. Tonight we will have fresh Fish and Chips at the canteen next to the harbor.
Over and Out,
S and S
