Full Day in Charlottetown

Hi F and F,
For Graeme , the first job was to fill the water tanks and clean down the boat .I went off to check in at the Marina and met a very friendly guy David who was sitting in one of the Adirondeck chairs on the CYC verandah.Yes the same as our CYC except it stands for CharlottetownYacht Club! He offered to drive us to the supermarket when we needed it.
So once our chores were done we took him up on this offer.
We boaters help each other out he said! Jumped in his big GMC truck and headed off first to the bank then to book the restaurant for dinner and then onto Sobeys supermarket, giving us was posters along the way about the town.
Got to say this was the nicest supermarket so far in our trip into Canada. Had lots of nice goodies and we bought more than planned. There is a Sobey here who keeps his 48 ft Sabre just around the corner in the next Marina. After our trip out , we then headed off on foot to the tourist centre and found there was a 1 1/2 hour bus trip to tour the Charlottetown area. It was too late to take a longer trip.Got some lunch , got on board the English double decker bus and headed off to see the sights and learn some history.
Tour was a bit benign, but it was fun being guided around. The Univeraity of PEI was very impressive  ad even the Harness horse racing track and stable area was interesting , well to me anyway. We had spied the Paderno stainless steel pot and pans store on our way out  ( all made in Canada and on PEI .) Decided it was a bargain being 1/2 price and the weaken Canadian dollar, so we bought a new set to replace our wedding ones given to us back in 1976! Good early Wedding Anniversary gift for ourselves ( It will be 40 yrs next January) Had to have a Cows Icecream , famous on PEI I chose the apple pie flavor. Nothing so far beats the ginger Ice Cream in Camden.Several Buskers were in town to entertain the locals and visitors. One guy said he is in the Guinees book of records for his backward flips on a pogo stick. Oh well , it was entertaining  to watch him. In the evening we had dinner at the Water and Prince Coner Shop. This was our chance to try the PEI blue shelled mussels . Delicious , followed by the homemade strawberry and rhubarb pie.The place was packed , just as well we had booked in the morning. You can also buy lobster, clams , mussels etc to cook at home.As we walked back to the boat, the buskers were still out entertaining. Nice to have a day on land.
Over and Out,
S and S
