Well time to move on and this time no flotilla to accompanying us.In a way , it was quite nice to do our own thing again. We said our goodbyes to some of our looper friends in the morning.
We left in beautiful sunny weather with lower temps and lower humidity Perfect day for boating.
Also the water was like glass when we left Green Turtle Bay Marina and continued that way until we arrived at Paris Landing Marina. We followed the Barkely Canal that connects
Lake Barkley( Cumberland River ) with Kentucky Lake ( Tennessee River )all sounds a bit confusing but it works!
Then we took the Tennessee River south which was also part of Kentucky Lake. Got it?
What a contrast when you the compare the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to the Tennessee River!
Very little barge traffic here , no debris in the water and lovely scenery. No more industrial sights, well so far, at least.
We soon caught up to the Pinta and Nina replica boats that had been in GTB Marina over the past few days.As we had already been on them in Virginia , we decided against the tour.
It is amazing though that boats of that size crossed the oceans and explored uncharted territories!
This was a 3 1/2 hour journey for us ( short in comparison to our recent trips) Graeme was able to get up on plane at 15 knots speed which the boat likes .
And soon we were docked at Paris Landing State Park Marina. It was lovely to come into a quiet place again with not too much activity going on.
The floating docks were great and well maintained .The Dock master was very pleasant and friendly and filled us in on what was available here. We had decided to play golf at 4.30pm and he arranged for the park ranger to drop us off and pick us up afterwards.
The course which is nearby, is called the Paris Landing Golf Course ( what else) and is listed with Golf Digest as a 4 star award course. In fact they had reseeded the fairways and greens and it had just reopened a few days ago. Well it lived up to its reputation and was a delight to play.
Back to the boat and drinks out in the cockpit followed by a fresh pasta and spinach dinner inside before the mozzies got to us.
It was a great day.
Over and out,
E and G.
