Sorry got a bit behind with the blog! Today is anchoring out day.
But first Erica was determined to find a nice breakfast place before we set off.
When you anchor out there is no real need to get there early as there isn't much to do once you arrive.
So Erica followed the directions to Tony's , Trixie's in town was shut. It was about a 25 min walk.
Food was ordered to be brought back to the boat including an order for a dock mate who was disappointed not to get his biscuits and gravy !
Turns out when Erica returned , Allan had already left. But Bob the dock master said he would take them to a shut in person , so the good deed was passed on. Great food just a shame we couldn't have all hiked there to have breakfast on site.
We set off , Lucky Ducks, Lydia B and us.
The other two boats had left an hour earlier. We past the Beardstown LogsonTug and glad we had not stopped there for the nighttime .It looked basic! We stopped at a recommended anchor spot called Big Blue Island.
It wasn't roomy enough for five boats and there was debris at the northern entrance. So by then , we had caught up to the other two boats and headed off in convey to our next spot of choice, Buckhorn Island. This proved to be a good spot and we all anchored easily after a 5 1/2 hours journey.
We had a back in plan called the Illinois Riverdock restaurant, about 20 miles further south .Erica had called them and they said we could dock there for the night , but luckily we didn't need it.
All was well, it was peaceful with only the cicadas providing background music.
However, as we turned the generator on, nothing happened .Although the motor started up ,no power was coming through!
Calls to Cummins who had recently serviced it in Saugatuck while we were away , proved to be unfruitful and we ended up with a cold supper and no air conditioning.Fortunately the weather cooled down and we had a pleasant night.
Over and Out,
E and G
