Hi Y'all
We left for Georgetown at a leisurely 11.15 am. Sunny day with north winds again but not rough along the ICW. Saw several dolphins along the way , also passed the Isle of Palms a popular holiday island just north of Charleston. We made our sandwiches on route and arrived in Georgetown at 4.15pm So just a five hour journey this time. Gave the boat a good wash down .Even though we are not in the ocean there is still a lot of salt water accumulating on the boat traveling on the ICW. Jean and I set off to explore the town which consists of one main street .Not unlike several NZ towns. Pop here is about 10,000. The town is dominated by a steel mill and a paper mill.Of course with south winds we had the wonderful paper pulp aromas to enjoy! We stopped for a homemade ice cream then amused ourselves in a general dept store buying fun cards and some linens.Found a bakery that sold South Carolina rice, so we each bought a packet .Suggested we keep it in the freezer.A new idea for us!
Cocktails on board then a walk back to the Rice Paddy Restaurant with the guys for dinner.Meal was excellent once again Well worth a return trip here.
Evening spent relaxing and planning our next day journey hoping to go out in the ocean tomorrow.Graeme studies the marine forecasts meticulously.
Over and Out.
