It will be another short trip of an hour and half down the coast to Holland. Erica first wanted to check out a knitting shop before we left so with some help from the dock staff and a computer , she set off to find Needle Smith store. A good walk of 20 mins and a post office on the way made the trip very productive.
The two ladies running the knitting store were lovely. They of course we're very interested to hear we were living on our boat and the journey we were making.
They gave Erica two tips to pass along. The woolens ball you can use in your dryer to replace fabric sheets ( which can ruin your dryers long term) can be easily made.In fact the directions how to make them are on line.Just use good wool with no synthetic threads.
Also white vinegar can be used instead of fabric softners in your washing machine. Check internet for instructions. This will also prevent your washing machine from clogging up.
Back to the boat and Graeme was ready to depart, possible thunderstorms coming.
We headed out near 11 am. In no time we were off Lake Michigan and into Lake Macatawa to our slip at Eldeans Shipyard .Fueled up first at the dock.Graeme likes to leave the boat with almost full fuel when we leave the boat for a 2 1/2 week break . That will be at our next stop 8 miles away.
Interestingly, the lovely clear blue water has no been replaced with brown water. We also noticed that first in GrandHaven .
Good slip at Eldean's shipyard and lovely facilities Modern bathrooms and a lovely pool and clubhouse. The Marina is about a 15 min drive into Holland and Erica had already arranged with Enterprise for a free rental car pick up at the dock, for 3.30 pm.
Unfortunately our pickup driver Nate ended up at the wrong Marina but he finally worked it out .
Very chatty young man and wanted to know lots about our travels and life as we headed back to Enterprise dealership. Got a nice little metallic blue Hyundai Accent to use.
We then drove off to Saugatuck to check out our dock arrangements for Monday in three days time.
A busy little place , very touristy and lots of people !
In the meantime we will enjoy the peace and quiet of Eldean's.
Had dinner on board and relaxed for the evening.
Over and Out ,
E and G
