So we now have six full days here to explore this wonderful Windy City, before we start the homeward journey down the river system to Mobile , Alabama and the Gulf of Mexico.
We always like to get a feel of a city by taking a bus trip our favorite being the hop in hop off bus tours.
So we booked tickets on line and after breakfast headed to stop 9 on the map.As we had gained an hour here, we were ready to get going by 8.30am local time.
Had a lovely day exploring the city and seeing the contrast of the wonderful old 1800's buildings and the modern architectural high rises in all sorts of shapes and design.
Lunchtime, (this being the land of pizza), we stopped at Giordanos for the deep dish pizza.
It took 45 mins from ordering to table .Erica managed to eat one piece and Graeme ate two.Rest came home with us for lunch tomorrow.
Later we tried another cholesterol delight at Ghirardelli Chocolate icecream parlor .Graeme ordered a salted caramel and chocolate icecream sundae which we shared. Erica noticed a AED positioned prominently on the wall here, guess they recognize perhaps this food could be harmful for your health!!! Anyway good fun! We completed the bus tour and headed back to the boat. Late afternoon we entertained a new Sabre boat friend on Lady Erica. Bob lives here and is a member of Chicago YC.
As we will not be on our boat journey til Thursday, Erica we have a short break and will resume the blog then. Perhaps will do a summary of our time staying here just before we leave. Will post some photos also.
Over and Out,
E and G.
